5 Ways to Connect to Your Intuition

The Inner Guidance System, or IGS, is your deep knowing of what you want for your life, similar to your intuition. Think of it as the navigational system of your soul, gently directing you toward your greatest joy, fulfillment, and personal growth – your true calling. Yet, it’s entirely up to you whether you choose to follow the guidance of your IGS.

I know firsthand how easy it is to tune out that guidance due to fear and uncertainty. I was stuck on autopilot for a long time, feeling lost and disconnected. My life felt off-track, filled with jobs that drained me and a nagging sense of never being quite where I wanted to be. It was a wake-up call to realize that I felt the disconnection from ignoring my own IGS. Although it took me a while, I committed to tuning into my own inner GPS to find my way back to feeling good about my life.

Acknowledging this was my first step towards change. Once I began to listen, the fog started to lift, revealing a path that aligned with my true self. If you’re feeling stuck or unsure, it might just be a sign to listen to (and trust!) your inner guidance. To help you tune in and truly hear what your IGS is trying to tell you, I’ve gathered some simple yet powerful steps that helped me connect with my intuition.

  1. Quiet the Mind: Meditation is your opportunity to listen to what your IGS is trying to tell you without the noise of everyday life getting in the way. By calming the mind, even for a brief period, you open up to your inner voice. Your IGS might communicate through soft whispers, vivid imagery, or body sensations.
  2. Craft a Vision Board: Vision boards are a fun way to see what your heart truly wants. If you’re feeling a disconnect in any aspect of your life, gather magazines, scissors, and glue to assemble a board that reflects your ideal scenario in that area. What does your dream scenario look like? How does it make you feel? Alternatively, consider designing a digital vision board using tools like Canva.
  3. Consult a Coach: Life coaches possess the skills to help bridge the gap between you and your IGS. They lift the fog by posing thought-provoking questions, uncovering patterns, and providing a supportive environment for exploring and realizing your deepest ambitions. A coach can be instrumental in both identifying your desires and strategizing actionable steps toward achieving them.
  4. Identify Recurring Patterns: Have you ever noticed how the same situations or feelings keep popping up? That’s your IGS sending you signals of areas needing your attention or change. Paying attention to these can help you figure out what changes it’s calling you to make.
  5. Listen to Mental Nudges: Your IGS often gently prompts you towards actions or decisions, like exploring a new hobby or taking an unfamiliar route home. These subtle cues might seem trivial at the moment, yet looking back, they often connect in meaningful ways. To enhance your sensitivity to these signals, consider keeping a journal of daily nudges. It’s crucial to understand that your IGS is not rooted in fear; it encourages, rather than deters.

Listening to your IGS is all about finding your way to happiness and fulfillment. By trying these simple things—sitting quietly with your thoughts, making a vision board, seeking the support of a coach, noticing the patterns in your life, and paying attention to those little nudges—you’re learning to trust you intuition. This journey back to yourself might take some time, but it’s worth it.
